Whenever I sleep over at my grandparents’ house my grandpa / Papa makes delicious French toast that only takes 20 minutes to make. I like to eat it with maple syrup and a glass of milk. My brother likes to sprinkle his with powdered sugar, or chocolate syrup if he can!
Serves 6
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 9 medium slices of toast
- 3 large eggs
- butter or sunflower oil
Preparation
In a flat bowl crack in all the eggs and add the vanilla. Wisk together. Heat butter in a large frying pan and then dip one slice at a time into the egg mixture and place it on the frying pan. Cook one side for about a minute or until it’s toasty brown, then flip with a spatula and cook the other side. Place it on a serving dish and repeat with the rest of the bread. Serve warm with maple syrup, jam, or powdered sugar.
This is a great recipe. It is satisfying to make. It can be creative – different kinds of bread, the bread cut up in different shapes, crisped or soft. Variety of toppings…. The true joy is watching everyone gobble it up. And eating it.
