I woke up on Fourth Of July morning and my dad was making waffles. I found red and blue food dye, so I decided to put in some of it in the batter. On Sunday mornings we usually have waffles but we decided to do them on Monday. I loved how they came out.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1⁄2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Blue and red food coloring
Preparation
Preheat Belgian waffle iron on high setting.
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and whisk just until smooth.
Pour 1/4 cup of batter into each waffle (adjust according to your waffle maker).
Place 2 drops each of red and blue food coloring on each waffle and swirl with a chopstick.
Cook for 4 1/2 minutes or until golden and crispy to your liking. BAM! You’re done! Happy 4th of July!
